I’ve been spending some time lately making better backups of my albums (so that when Logic isn’t around in 30 years or less, I’ll still have the tracks), and I found this vocals-only version of Weird.
Sax part from Butter.
A year ago today, I was trying to rewrite a song called Naomi, which went on to be Weird, a song that wasn’t written until 5 months later.
This is from a song that didn’t make it on the record. It was originally gonna replace Turning Orange, but I ended up keeping that song on the record. The bowed guitar technique here was also used on Weird and Butter.
Recording the prepared piano for the bridge part of You Said.
Towards the end of mixing Mouse Trappe, which is the hardest song I’ve ever made.
I record a lot of the process of working on an album. From the CLAYE sessions alone, I have over 3,000 voice memos.
Sometimes I like to sift through them, and tonight I did. I found this one, from May 2013, just around the that time I was starting to be successful with writing the album.
This album made me go crazy, and I’m surprised the effects don’t show as much anymore as they did a year ago. I fucking lost my mind.
